In brief, no, Parris Campbell is not the nephew of the NBA legend LeBron James. In fact, both athletes are not related at all. But the two talented athletes share a long history together.

Both James and Campbell are from the same city (Akron, Ohio) and attended the same high school (St Vincent-St Mary) years apart. “I’ve seen him since high school, alma mater of mine and I’ve seen what he was able to do at the high school level,” LeBron said according to The Athletic.

But LeBron really became a fan of the talented pass catcher when he played for the NBA star’s favorite college football team, the Ohio State Buckeyes. Despite their age differences James and Campbell have been good friends and continue to support each other.

Parris Campbell is looking for a breakout season

The Ohio State product Parris Campbell was a highly touted wide receiver coming out of college. He was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2nd round (59th overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was expected to become a productive pass catcher in the league but unfortunately, the six-foot wide receiver hasn’t played to his full potential yet in the NFL.

During his 4-year-long career in the league so far Campbell has never crossed the 700+ receiving yards mark in a season. In his first three seasons, he caught 34 passes for a mere 360 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

However, in his contract year, Campbell finally found some success as he caught 63 passes for 623 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in 2022. As a result, he tested his options and free agency and landed a contract with the NY Giants.

The Giants are in desperate need of good pass-catchers. For now, their newly added tight end Darren Waller is quarterback Daniel Jones‘ number one option. So, this is a massive opportunity for Campbell, who is looking to prove himself and secure a third contract in the league.
