“It’s not a shoulder issue”: Nick Wright feels Jimmy Garoppolo’s ‘this specific issue’ will guarantee Niners’ defeat to Packers in Divisional Round

San Francisco 49ers pulled an upset when luck interfered in their Wild Card game and they managed to defeat Dallas Cowboys. 49ers were leading 23-7 at the end of the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Dak Prescott tried his best to put the Cowboys back in the game and he succeeded in doing so.

However, in the last moment of the game when the Cowboys could’ve snatched the win away from the 49ers, an umpire bumped in Prescott and the clock ran out sealing the 49ers’ victory. Despite the 49ers advancing into the divisional round, QB Jimmy Garoppolo’s performance wasn’t all that great and First Things First host, Nick Wright, feels that Jimmy G might be the reason San Fransico will lose to Green Bay Packers in the playoffs.

“They (fans) should be incredibly worried about Jimmy Garoppolo”, Wright said. “This has nothing to do with his injured shoulder. Not unless shoulder injury affects decision making, processing, and the ability to read and react to what you’re seeing on the field then maybe that’s an explanation for Jimmy G’s entire career.”

Wright feels that Jimmy Garoppolo’s shoulder injury doesn’t take away from the fact that he has difficulty making split-second decisions under pressure. Wright said, “Assuming that’s not the case, they should be concerned because they could play the perfect game against the Packers and Jimmy G could still throw it away, the way he tried to against the Cowboys.”

Jimmy Garoppolo’s postseason record is not very promising

Wright added, “The Cowboys’ game, Jimmy G tried to throw it away and that is a trend for his entire postseason career.” The 49ers’ quarterback has the worst passer rating — 19.4, in the 4th quarter and OT in playoffs over the last 30 years. In the Wild Card weekend game, Jimmy G couldn’t manage to put up a single digit on the scoreboard. San Francisco was 0-10 in the fourth quarter against the Cowboys.

Jimmy G’s playoffs career consists of 2 touchdowns, 4 picks, and a passer rating of 73. “What about up 13 fourth quarter, this is not a shoulder issue, this is a process issue,” Wright said. “So yeah, niner fans should be worried because Jimmy G’s gonna do that at least once a game every game and against the Packers, I don’t know if you can afford it.”

The 49ers will travel to Lambeau Field to face the No.1 seed in the NFC, Green Bay Packers this weekend.
