Ja’Marr Chase has quickly risen to prominence in the NFL and is already being included in talks about the great wide receivers that are going to dominate the league in the coming decade. After a very successful college career at LSU, where he won the Fred Biletnikoff Award and the 2020 College Football Playoff National Championship, he was selected fifth overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2021 NFL draft.
During his first year as a Bengal, he had 1,455 receiving yards for 13 touchdowns. He broke Cincinnati’s franchise record for the most receiving yards in a season along with the most receiving yards in a game (266 yards) which speaks volumes about the impact he is going to have on this team and the NFL. In the 2022 season, Chase played only 12 games because of an injury but still ended up being the Bengals’ leader in receptions (87) and receiving yards (1,046).
Chase is considered a threat by every team in the league, given his production. Furthermore, he has a familiar face in Joe Burrow as his quarterback in Cincinnati as well as LSU, so he has no difficulty connecting with him on crucial downs.
During last year’s AFC Championship game, Chase was double-teamed for most of the match but still managed to score a touchdown on his 6 receptions. On Sunday night as well, the Chiefs’ defense will look to neutralize Chase from the start of the game and keep him quiet the entire 60 minutes of gameplay if they want to win and advance to the Super Bowl.
Who are Ja’Marr Chase’s parents, Jimmy and Toleah Chase?
Ja’Marr Anthony Chase was born on March 1, 2000, in Harvey, Louisana, to his father Jimmy, and mother, Toleah Chase. Both of his parents have been his anchor and the biggest supporters during his entire football career. During his sophomore year, when Ja’Marr Chase was the finalist of the Fred Biletnikoff Award given to the best wide receiver in college football, his parents couldn’t be more proud as was evident from their interview.
“Ja’Marr set that as one of his goals,” his father Jimmy said on the LSU wideout being considered for the Fred Biletnikoff Award. “That’s the most fulfilling part. To have your child or your son set some goals for himself and actually reach some of those goals, doing what he loves to do; it’s a beautiful thing, life-changing thing.”
“It’s a blessing and I’m so pleased with Ja’Marr. He is setting all of his goals and reaching them. Just to be a finalist, even if he doesn’t win, that’s still good. That means he’s awesome,” Toleah Chase, his mother, said with pride and love in her voice.
The support Jimmy and Toleah give their son was also shown when Ja’Marr was drafted by the Bengals. Chase, who was already emotional upon being drafted, was in tears when the NFL played a special video message his father recorded for him along with a handwritten letter from his mom.
Not much is known about Jimmy and Toleah, who like to keep their personal life private.
