The entire world will always remember the journey of the legend no one wanted in the 2000 NFL draft. Tom Brady was selected as the 199th pick by the New England Patriots and from that point onwards, he made it his life’s mission to prove everyone wrong who overlooked him in the draft because he wasn’t athletic enough to throw a tight spiral.

Fast forward to 2023, Brady is the face of the NFL and is the greatest quarterback of all time. There isn’t anyone in the history of the sport who has achieved anything close to what he has in the 23 years he was playing the league. The first two decades of his legendary career were spent in New England, where he helped set up the Patriots dynasty that ruled the NFL and won six Super Bowls.

Tom Brady then left the Patriots to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he won his 7th Super Bowl ring. He spent another year in Tampa Bay and announced his retirement, but returned after 40 days to start his 23rd season. After the worst season of his career, Brady announced on Feb 1 that he is retiring ‘for good’ and hanging up his cleats.

Tom Brady says it’s the players that attract people to the NFL

After playing under every condition, every new rule, and against every generation, the future Hall of Fame quarterback is ready to pass over the torch to the younger quarterbacks. Tom Brady has entertained the league for more than two decades and after seeing Super Bowl LVII, he is confident the league is in safe hands. While speaking on his podcast ‘Let’s Go!’ he said that it is star players that attract fans to watch the sport rather than a team or a longstanding history amongst the fans.

The 45-year-old said, “I hope these other guys like Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts can play a long time and Josh Allen and Joe Burrow and these tremendous players that bring so much. That’s why we watch – not because of the color of the jerseys, because of the players in the jerseys.”

Brady is right about what he said about players being the main reason to watch football. Players like Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, Aaron Donald, and J. J. Watt attracted fans because of their gameplay and the interesting nail-biting matches that followed them. Patrick Mahomes has already blown away the league with his Hall of Fame resume he built in six years. The Chiefs quarterback is touted to be the next greatest thing after Brady, so it would be amazing to watch him play for a long time.

The league is stacked with powerhouse quarterbacks like Allen, Burrow, Jackson, Hurts, and Herbert. The league will get more and more interesting from here on out, and it’ll be interesting to watch it unfold right in front of our eyes.
