Calvin Orin Ridley is undoubtedly a talented footballer who has been through a lot of ups and downs in a relatively young career. The wide receiver plies his trade for the Atlanta Falcons was roped in by the franchise in the first round of the 2018 draft.

Ridley has found himself involved in a major controversy this time around that will most probably cost him millions of dollars. Recently, the NFL released a statement announcing Ridley’s suspension and he is all set to miss at least the 2022 season of the league.

The league officials have taken the call as Ridley gambled on a number of games back in November 2021. At that time, he was on the non-football injury list. Ridley had then stepped asked for a break in order to pay more attention to his mental health.

Reacting to what has transpired with Ridley, Marcus Spears had a few things to say. “I am disheartened by this now. This will hurt me. To have an act like this cause you to miss a year after you have dealt with personal issues and injuries, it’s just senseless man,” Marcus said.

Where are you, I mean where are you from the standpoint of not reading the rules. This is the absolute worst when it comes to sports. Betting in sports has been one of the most egregious things that we’ve seen from players while they’re in the league. This is huge,” he further added.

Spears went on to add that it will be interesting to see how the franchises look at this issue and added that Calvin’s career might be hanging in the balance because of what he has done.
