“[Slater] will go up there, in the kicking game, with Brady on offense and Taylor on defense. So I feel very, very fortunate to have the opportunity to coach all the players, but I’d say those three in particular,” Belichick said on Matthew Slater, via Mike Reiss of ESPN.

The Patriots signed him on for a one year with $2.62 million fully guaranteed and he is all set to return for his 15th season at the franchise. Slater’s 10 Pro Bowl berths are the most in NFL history for a special-teamer, besting former Buffalo Bills great Steve Tasker (seven).

Matthew Slater has often been discussed as a potential future “Hall of Famer,” and this praise from his coach will surely add to his already glittering records. The 36-year old has already won 3 Super Bowl titles, in Super Bowl XIX, Super Bowl LI, Super Bowl LIII.

Slater even earned himself a place in the New England Patriots team of the 2010s, for his continued service to the franchise, with whom he has now spent 14 seasons.
