The Pro Bowl will be played in Las Vegas on Sunday. Ahead of the all-star showdown, the incredible story of Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has been an inspiration for a lot of people.
Crosby’s selection to the Pro Bowl means a great deal to him both personally and professionally. The Raiders DE had to undergo rehab for a month of alcoholism in early 2020.
“This hits home” – Maxx Crosby said alcoholism runs in his family
“It just brought back memories … I was in rehab almost two years ago and now I’m in the Pro Bowl,” Crosby said as he got a little emotional. “This is just a blessing, man. I show up and I try to be the best teammate everyday, show my guys that I care.”
“This hit home, man. This is special. It makes my family proud, my girl, everybody around me is calling, blowing up my phone. I’m crying like a baby because I know I’ve worked so hard, and it’s starting to pay off.”
Crosby was selected in the fourth round by the Raiders in the 2019 draft. Maxx Crosby reminded owner Mark Davis and general manager Mike Mayock of Raiders Hall of Famer Ted Hendricks. March will mark two years of sobriety for him and the irony, he said, is that his best season sack-wise was his rookie season, when he racked up 10 sacks.
