“We talked about him staying…”- Mike McCarthy speaks up on his relationship with Dan Quinn on the Rich Eisen Show

A much promising season for the Dallas Cowboys ended in a disappointing manner as they lost at home in the NFC Wildcard Game against the San Francisco 49ers where they were the heavy favorites coming into the game due to their excellent roster and great performances throughout the season which gave the fans the belief that this can turn into something big.
After their shocking loss to the 49ers, uncertainty began brewing about the position of the coaches of the Dallas Cowboys as Mike McCarthy was under huge pressure with reports claiming that he might be fired but later it was confirmed that he’ll be their coach for the next season at least.
Dan Quinn’s position was also uncertain heading into the off-season as he had many offers from multiple teams around the league but the Cowboys managed to keep him while the talks of him replacing Mike McCarthy in the future started to gather pace.
Mike McCarthy on his appearance on the Rich Eisen show talked about Dan Quinn and said, “We talked about him staying here long before he ever took the interview.”
“When he took the interview and this narrative broke out…”- Mike McCarthy on Dan Quinn
Mike McCarthy on the Rich Eisen Show said, “Now obviously, when he took the interview and this narrative broke out – in reflection to the relationship Dan and I do have, he said, ‘Hey man, I’m not comfortable with this narrative. If you really feel like I need to take one of these jobs, just be honest with me.'”
Mike added, “We kind of laughed about it and I just said ‘Dan, 10 to 12 years ago, I’d tell you please get the hell out of here, I don’t want to deal with this.’, But the reality is I’m about winning, he’s about winning, and the best thing for the Cowboys is for Dan Quinn to be here.”
The Dallas Cowboys have a good team and can really win the Super Bowl next Super Bowl if they don’t fold under the pressure just like it happened in the game against 49ers which brought a lot of criticism for the whole team.
