“We ask NFL to take action against Dak”: NBA refs reprimand Dak Prescott for his QUESTIONABLE statement on NFL officials
Dak Prescott
The Dallas Cowboys lost to the 49ers in the Wild Card Playoff game and as expected, a lot of fans were left fuming. The Cowboys were under the pump right from the start of the game. They did absolutely nothing in the first and third quarters which allowed the 49ers to register a win.
Prescott and Co tried their best in the final quarter but it wasn’t enough in the end. After the match, several Cowboys fans went out of control. They started throwing trash at the Cowboys players when they were exiting the ground. Moreover, there were speculations that the fans were actually aiming at the refs.
Dak Prescott apologizes for his statement on refs
A dejected Dak Prescott came to attend the post-game press meet where he claimed that it was tough to absorb such hate from the fans. However, when he was told that the fans might have been aiming for the refs, Dak stated, “f***ing credit to them then.”
After this, Dak attracted even more trolls as fans and experts were not pleased with his statement. Even the NBA referees issued a statement condemning Dak’s comments and asked NFL to take strict action. “The NBRA condemns the comments by Dak Prescott condoning violence against game officials,” the National Basketball Referees Association posted on Twitter.
“As an NFL leader, he should know better. We encourage the NFL to take action to discourage this deplorable behavior in the future,” their statement further read. It appears that Dak eventually realized his mistake as he recently took to Twitter to apologize for his words.
“I deeply regret the comments I made regarding the officials after the game on Sunday,” he wrote. “I was caught up in the emotion of a disappointing loss and my words were uncalled for and unfair,” he further added. It will be interesting to see the NFL issue any official statement on the issue. However, it seems unlikely as Dak has already apologized.
