This year’s NFL season has witnessed a lot of strict decisions from the referees which have compelled the players to receive ample amount of fines. Be it Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills or Sauce Gardner from the New York Giants, all have faced a high amount of fines from referees. In some cases, the decisions made by the referees also have triggered questions on its fairness.

The latest to receive a fine is the linebacker of the San Francisco 49ers, Dre Greenlaw. The LB was subjected to a fine after he had a body-slamming challenge on the Philadelphia Eagles‘ WR DeVonta Smith in the high-voltage Sunday Night encounter between the two. The 49ers thrashed the Eagles 49-19 and the game will be remembered for the intensity that the Niners showed on the turf.

Despite the win with a stellar margin, a moment of toughness erupted during the game. With 9:27 minutes remaining on the clock, LB Greenlaw tackled Smith, who completed a 13-yard-gain. Later, the LB grabbed Smith from behind and performed a body slam on him. It immediately attracted a penalty for being unnecessarily rough on the opponent. On account of this Greenlaw has been handed $10,927 fine.

Greenlaw received early marching orders. But he was not the only one to get that. The Eagles’ head of the security Dom DiSandro was barred from stepping onto the sidelines for the Cowboys game after a moment of tussle emerged between the two teams.

Right after the LB performed the body slam, the Eagles players and staff started shouting at him. DiSandro also appeared on the sideline and had some heated discussion with the 49ers’ man. He went straight up to the face of Greenlaw.

The 26-year-old was then seen stretching his arm towards the security. He allegedly had a contact with the security guard. As a result, he had to leave the gridiron quickly for the unsportsmanship he showed.

However, Greenlaw was unhappy with the decision. He criticized the referee for sending him out. The damage was done by that time and the LB later received a high amount of fine.
