Football fans argued Brandon Aiyuk is a team player and the 49ers should keep hold of him.

Brandon Aiyuk‘s future will be decided in the coming weeks. For now, there is a high possibility that he will enter free agency and find himself elsewhere in the new season.
The latest development hit the San Francisco 49ers fans hard. Considering he was coming off his best season in the NFL, with 75 catches for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns, it was hard for them to process why the 49ers weren’t willing to extend the Bay Area native’s contract.
On Friday, a prominent 49ers admirer on X (formerly Twitter), Coach Yac, shared a clip of the 25-year-old. Through the video, he wanted to argue how valuable a player Brandon Aiyuk is for the team.
It showed a play from the opening day of the 2023 season. The 49ers welcomed the Pittsburgh Steelers to Levi’s Stadium. While Aiyuk is a top receiver of the ball, he chips in on other areas as well when required.
Quarterback Brock Purdy laid off the ball to running back Christian McCaffrey, who bounced off the Steelers’ blitz and ran left looking for an opening. A Steelers corner was closing on him, but Aiyuk blocked him, clearing the path for McCaffrey, who scored a 65-yard rushing touchdown.
The 49ers won the game 30-7, with Aiyuk being the best receiver on the day. He caught eight passes for 129 yards, scoring two touchdowns.
Fans demand the 49ers pay Brandon Aiyuk the money
As per Sportrac, the 49ers currently have the highest payroll in the NFL. But it could become $4.6 million under the cap in the coming days, depending on the various deals they make. For that reason, the 49ers are looking to thin out a few players, even though they were among their best last season.
ESPN‘s Dan Graziano noted,
[Aiyuk's] situation looms the largest over this 49ers offseason, and if they can't find a way to a contract extension, the talented wideout could theoretically ask to be traded to a team that's willing and able to pay him.
Brandon Aiyuk is set to earn $14.1 million in 2024 because the 49ers picked up his fifth-year option during the last offseason. But Graziano noted that his cap number may drop to $10 million in the upcoming years. Yet the faithful fans who love the Arizona State alumnus want John Lynch to keep him.
Aiyuk was Purdy’s favorite target. He averaged 17.9 yards per reception per game and had a 71.4 percent catch rate. PFF gave him the second-highest offensive grade for an NFL wide receiver with 91.5. Only Tyreek Hill received more, with 93.4.
