The Super Bowl LVII is finally all upon us, after a long wait for the titular clash. The titular clash will be played between the AFC Champions, Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.

However, not everyone associated with the NFL has succeeded in accepting that the Eagles will play in the marquee Super Bowl. The doubters are there, in the form of San Francisco 49ers running back, Christian McCaffrey. He is still salty at the fact that the 49ers failed to make it into the Super Bowl despite being on a dream 12-game unbeaten run.

The 49ers were no match for the Eagles, as the game ended up being an incredibly one-sided affair with the score finishing 31-7. San Francisco were handicapped in their quarterback position, a spot that has plagued them throughout the season.

The game started off in the worst possible manner for the 49ers, with quarterback Brock Purdy, suffering a horrendous elbow injury on the first drive in the game. The second half followed suit for the 49ers, with backup quarterback Josh Johnson suffering a concussion.

The game simply became tougher and tougher for the 49ers, despite the fact that Purdy tried to carry on irrespective of the injury. Call it saltiness or jealousy, Christian McCaffrey has straight-up announced that he won’t be rooting for either team in the Super Bowl.

The 26-year-old bluntly stated, “I hope both teams lose,” when asked about the team he’d be supporting this Sunday. To be fair on the youngster, the 49ers had a promising roster this year to make a genuine claim for the Super Bowl, despite having a rookie quarterback in the form of Brock Purdy.

In what will now be hailed as a story of what if, McCaffrey lamented that a fit quarterback during the NFC Championship game could have probably changed the whole complexion of the game.

“You don’t want to make excuses, obviously, but it just sucks, because we wish we had a healthy quarterback for a full game,” McCaffrey said on the “Up & Adams” show, “and just kind of see how the game would have panned out.

“It’s a really good team that we played, but it feels like something got stolen from you.” The fact that Christian McCaffrey is still hung up on the defeat shows how the injuries to both their quarterbacks affected the 49ers, probably costing them a shot at Super Bowl glory.
