The NFL world has heard a lot of heart-warming stories. From Maxx Crosby to Jim Irsay, everyone has become an exception by fighting the odds. The latest to hit the list is Trent Williams, one of the finest offensive tackles to play in the league.
Williams has been one of the key reasons behind the success of the 49ers this season. Apart from his display on the field, he will be remembered for his battle against cancer.
It all started in 2019 when he was diagnosed with Dermatofibrosarcoma Protuberans (DFSP). He has surgery to remove a growth from his head. The cancer also spread deep into the skin and was creeping into his brain. He had surgery to remove a growth from his head.

During his days in the hospital, the OT was often told that he had very few days to survive in the world. In the recent episode of Third and Long of the YouTube Channel Tidal League, the OT revealed his doctors suggested that he fix his affairs as he had very few days left.
Every time I go into a locker room, every time I put the helmet on. I flash back and think about the time where Doc said, ‘Get your affairs in order.'
The OT also blamed his team for the negligence that they showed in his treatment. They diagnosed the disease much before (in 2013). However, they did not take that seriously. After the OT was told about the cancer, he quickly asked for a release from his former team. That helped him to go through the treatment.
Despite the disease, the player did not take retirement and carried on his football career. To continue his career, the OT avoided chemotherapy. Otherwise, he had to put a gap in his career for 15 years.
Trent Williams is not out of motivation
Despite all the hardships, Trent Williams is not out of motivation. He still feels to contribute to the field. The OT added that he felt blessed as a player. He also thanked his family and the almighty to put the strength in him.

I’m a competitor and I still got gas left in the tank.
He further added:
I was blessed with a certain set of skills that gave me a shot to be the best offensive lineman to ever play the game. I feel like I’ve reached that potential, I feel like I’m continuing to push Father Time back, and you know I just want to continue to show & prove that I’m the best offensive tackle to ever play the game.
The 49ers are going to face the Eagles in the coming game. The OT will have a major responsibility to stop Jalen Hurts in the game.
