George Kittle is an important part of the 49ers squad. Kittle is the protective layer between Trey Lance and the opposition’s defence. Coach Kyle Shanahan will have an important task on his hand to replace the TE due to his groin injury.
George Kittle suffered a groin injury in practice on Monday. Though Kittle said that he is feeling significantly better now, it’s safe to assume the TE will sit out the opener against the Chicago Bears. George Kittle is still listed as questionable for the 49er’s next game.
“Feeling significantly better than where we were at Monday, even better than Wednesday, even better than Thursday,” Kittle said Friday after the injury report came out.
George Kittle had the injury on Monday and since the TE has missed practice. Although Kittle has stated that he has played games before without getting practice, it seems like coach Shanahan won’t take any risks to endanger his whole season.
The 49ers TE is characterized as injury prone therefore coach Kyle Shanahan took extra measures to keep him fit during the preseason, but another injury was inevitable.
“Definitely doing everything I can to be on the field Sunday”: George Kittle is optimistic about getting on the field on Sunday

Kittle has suffered several injuries throughout his career and has never gone a whole season without an injury, this makes him an injury-prone athlete for which extra caution is required by the coach and the management.
George Kittle missed three games last season due to a calf injury and the TE has also taken additional rest days in between to recover and get back on the field. Throughout his career, Kittle has suffered knee, groin, hamstring and foot injuries.
But, if George Kittle is on the field then he is one of the best TEs in the NFL. He had 71 receptions for 910 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games last season. With Kittle out it is believed that Charlie Woerner or Ross Dwelley will replace him in the opening game against the Bears.
