‘Run Wilson, Run’ seems to be the chant among New York Jets fans after witnessing the budding chemistry between Garrett Wilson and Aaron Rodgers during their Sunday practice session.
It was a sunny day at Florham Park, New Jersey, and the Jets players were back for their second day of training as they prepare for the 2023 NFL season. As expected, all eyes were on the new signing, Rodgers, to showcase some of his accurate passing. The 39-year-old did not disappoint the Big Apple crowd, who flocked to cheer on their favorite players.
The Jets training camp began on Saturday with renewed optimism and some unwanted skirmishes. But everything was forgotten when defensive end Sauce Gardner presented Rodgers with a diamond necklace. Despite the ridicule on social media, few welcomed the cornerback’s gesture, but they were not ready for what was about to go down the next day.
Midway through the session on Sunday, Aaron Rodgers launched a deep pass, hoping to find his target, Garrett Wilson. G-Dub showed his class by running back in the end zone and catching a spectacular touchdown. It’s fair to say this was the best highlight of the training camp thus far.
Jets fans share their excitement on social media after watching Garrett Wilson’s amazing chemistry with Aaron Rodgers
When the Jets’ Twitter handle shared the clip of the catch and the crowd went berserk. Connor Hughes, NFL reporter for SNY TV, who was present during Sunday’s camp, said he was having a lot of fun watching Aaron Rodgers and Garrett Wilson play football. Not just Hughes, but several fans expressed that they couldn’t wait to watch the two in action in a real match.
Aaron Rodgers is a massive Davante Adams fan, to whom he compared his young teammate Garrett Wilson. The Super Bowl Winner revealed that he sees similarities between the two.
“That number 17 reminds me of the other 17,” Rodgers said as both wear the # 17. Even though he is aware that the Raiders wideout is in a league of his own, the former Packer has faith in the 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year. Meanwhile, Wilson himself claimed that he loves Adams and grew up watching his style of play.
“I’ve got a long way to go before I get to that point,” the 23-year-old Ohio State graduate said. But to his credit, he could be on his way after the amazing pass he caught from Rodgers.
