Aaron Rodgers is a name to be reckoned with in the NFL world. His once-in-a-generation football skills have earned him the coveted title of being one of the greatest players to ever play the sport.

Rodgers is also known for his knack for making controversial statements and being in the headlines. After the end of last season, the 39-year-old quarterback said that he was ready to throw in the towel but surprisingly returned this year with a $50 million-a-year salary.

After a disappointing 2022 season, there are speculations about the Green Bay Packer star retiring once again. Reports are hinting toward the Week 18 game against the Detroit Lions being Rodgers’ last game at Lambeau Field. He has acknowledged the fact that this “might be” his last game at Lambeau Field, but the final decision of his retirement will be announced by the QB after this season ends.

Rodgers and the Packers weren’t their usual self in this season. After losing the first two games of the season, Green Bay went on to win the next three games before losing another five in a row. The Packers were 4-8 midway through the regular season and were basically written off from the playoff.

After seeing such a disastrous performance from the back-to-back MVP quarterback, critics were sure that this was Aaron Rodgers’ 18th and final season in the NFL. However, Rodgers and co. changed their gears and went into beast mode as they defeated their last four opponents and stand at .500 with a shot at the playoffs.

With one final game remaining in the regular season, Rodgers has thrown for over 3490 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions one more than his last two seasons combined. The Packers legend has been contemplating his retirement and is well aware that this might be his last time playing at Lambeau Field, his home for the past 17 years.

“Yeah, I mean, for sure,” Rodgers said to Ryan Wood of USA Today Network when asked about the possible last game at Lambeau. “Just ’cause you don’t know what the future holds. When I think about that, it’s nothing but gratitude”. The 4x NFL MVP quarterback added that he isn’t sad about Week 18 being his last regular season game ever. “Just gratitude for the time that I’ve been here, the amazing memories that I’ve had on this field. A lot of great moments.” He further added that he is still undecided about his future and plans to enjoy the Sunday night matchup against the Lions.

Even after being one victory away from playoffs, the Packers don’t resemble their former No.1 seed in the NFC self. But they seem to be making the right plays at the right time and this might play in their favor in Week 18 and the postseason if they advance forward. The defense is giving up more than 100 yards per game, but the special teams have been making up for their deficit.

The swaying factor in the Packers’ corner is Aaron Rodgers. Fans haven’t seen the best of the Super Bowl XLV champ yet and Week 18 just might be the game where he explodes and takes his team to the playoffs.

Fans on Twitter are having a mixed reaction to Aaron Rodgers hinting at retirement once again. Some believe that this just might be the year where he hangs his cape, while others say that he’s a diva that needs constant attention and will definitely come back next season.

If Green Bay Packers wins the final game against the Lions, they will become the No. 7 seed in the NFC and will probably face the Minnesota Vikings or the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of playoffs.
