“All were INSECURE”: After the Ryan Tannehill controversy, Shannon Sharpe says Tom Brady & Brett Favre were wrong for not mentoring young QBs
Brett Favre, Tom Brady, Ryan Tannehill
Ryan Timothy Tannehill III is a well-known entity in the world of the NFL. The star quarterback was roped in by the Miami Dolphins into their squad back in the 2012 NFL Draft. After spending a considerable amount of time with the franchise, he went to the Titans back in 2019 and since then, he has been an integral part of their setup.
Recently, Ryan was all over the internet when he delivered what many are calling an “unsavory response” when he was asked if he would mentor young Titans QB Malik Willis. “That’s part of being in a quarterback room, in the same room. We’re competing against each other, we’re watching the same tape, we’re doing the same drills,” Tannehill said and went on to add that it isn’t his job to mentor the young quarterback.
Buck Reising came out in support of Ryan Tannehill & Shannon Sharpe wasn’t pleased
“I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him, but if he learns from me along the way, then that’s a great thing,” he had added. His comments went viral in no time and a lot of people were pleased with his choice of words. However, there are a few who have come out in support of Ryan.
NFL Journalist Buck Reising took to Twitter to claim that it is indeed not Ryan’s job to mentor young QB Willis. He went on to name several star QBs and stated that they were also not as supportive as they should have been to the new recruits in their respective units.
“It’s not Ryan Tannehill’s job to mentor Malik Willis. It wasn’t Joe Flacco’s job to mentor Lamar Jackson. Tom Brady actively undermined Jimmy G. Please ask Aaron Rodgers how supportive Brett Favre was,” Buck Tweeted. After this, Shannon Sharpe also took to Twitter and responded to Buck.
“All were INSECURE,” Shannon wrote. This Tweet has added more fuel to the fire. Many NFL fans have opined that although it is not obligatory to mentor new recruits, it just makes one a good teammate if he is lending a helping hand to someone who is new to the setup.
