Scoring a touchdown does deserve celebration, and players like AJ Brown know how to ace that celebration. And a preview of this was seen in the Eagles-Cowboys game, where the former’s wide receivers, Brown and DeVonta Smith, presented a creative foray, after scoring a touchdown against the latter on Sunday.
The most interesting thing about this celebration by Brown is the connection to NBA legend LeBron James. Back in December 2010, James and Dwyane Wade were captured doing their iconic alley-oop pass to hammer down the Miami Heat. Their picture still remains one of the best images in the NBA.
In Sunday’s game, Brown and Smith attempted to recreate that picture while beating the rival Dallas Cowboys 28-23. It happened during the third quarter when Jalen Hurts caught wide receiver Brown, who rushed for a four-yard touchdown to take the lead. As he succeeded, he and Smith celebrated in ‘LeBron James’ style in the end zone.
After that, Smith moved toward the field goal with the ball in his hand and threw the ball backward to Brown, who attempted to dunk it over the crossbar. However, it couldn’t be made successfully. It would have been amazing if they didn’t fall short, but they did recreate the iconic picture.
Although James isn’t a very big fan of the Eagles, he ain’t a supporter of the Cowboys either. Regardless of his preference, this creative thinking by Brown and Smith would surely have made him happy.
Why did LeBron James stop being a fan of the Cowboys?
It’s quite out in public that NBA legend James, who was once a big supporter of the Cowboys, isn’t anymore. James has been a huge fan of the Cowboys since growing up in Ohio. But stopped supporting the team after seeing how the franchise handled the kneeling controversy in 2017.
During an Instagram live session with Maverick Carter last year, the LA Lakers superstar revealed:
Nah man I had to sit put on the Cowboys man. It was just a thing that was going on when guys were kneeling… [The] organization were like if do that around here you won’t play for this franchise again.
James didn’t like the Cowboys’ actions and attitude towards the players who were kneeling during the national anthem. And he declared that out on the internet, loud and clear. James hasn’t just changed his allegiance to an NFL team; he has actually changed his philosophy on the whole matter, as he now considers himself a Brown fan.
