AJ Brown is currently one of the best wide receivers in the league. The Philadelphia Eagles star is also one of the highest-paid players in the league, as he gets paid an average annual salary of $25 million, which is good money for a receiver. Still, it’s nowhere near what the Paris Saint-German star Lionel Messi will be potentially getting paid to play soccer in Saudi Arabia.
In fact, the Eagles star wideout joked about switching careers after seeing soccer star Lionel Messi’s potential $400m deal with Saudi Arabia. According to reports, Messi is in talks with the Saudi Arabian government for a possible deal worth around $400 million per year that will see him playing in the Saudi Pro League this summer. He is currently in the final year of his contract with the Ligue 1 club PSG and was recently suspended by the French giants.
Getting Lionel Messi will be a huge deal for Saudi Arabia. They recently got Messi’s rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, to play in the league, and it has done magic for the league’s improvement. According to a Yahoo Sports report, attendance doubled after Al-Nassr signed Ronaldo, and the league is getting worldwide recognition. If they could complete the deal with Messi and put him in the same league as the Portugal soccer star, the popularity of the Saudi Arabian league will reach new heights.
After seeing the reports about the potential contract, the Eagles’ Pro Bowl pass catcher AJ Brown took to social media to joke about it. “Where that soccer ball at? I know I can play goalie!! sign me up,” tweeted Brown.
AJ Brown and the Eagles aim for Super Bowl glory in 2023
Signing AJ Brown in the 2022 off-season might be the best move made by the Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman. Brown instantly became the best receiver in the NFC East and helped Jalen Hurts to become a Pro Bowl quarterback.
AJ Brown had himself a year last season as he registered a career-high 1496 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns, which led to him receiving his second Pro Bowl nod of his career. He will be aiming to surpass those numbers in the 2023 season.
The Eagles surprised everyone by winning the NFC Championship last year, but they eventually lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl. However, the Philadelphia-based football team has added a lot of new elite talents to their roster in free agency and the 2023 NFL Draft. AJ Brown and the Eagles will look to finish the job perfectly this time with the help of newly acquired talents.
