Dan Snyder, the owner of the Washington Commanders, is selling the franchise and the first bidding closed a few days ago. Many reputed businessmen were at the bidding, including Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, whose bid was at $5.5 billion.

As per reports, Dan Snyder is not willing to sell the franchise for less than $7 billion, which will be the biggest sale of a sports team in the world. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos also expressed interest in buying the Commanders but was denied bidding by Snyder due to personal reasons.

The personal reason is that Jeff Bezos owns The Washington Post, which released a series of articles detailing the hostile work environment in Washington. It was reported by the Post that Snyder and top executives sexually harassed the women employees of the team. This revelation led the league to take action and investigate the team and also the reason why he is selling the franchise.

Jeff Bezos has been vocal about his love for the sport and has expressed his desire to own an NFL team. After the news of Snyder refusing to sell to the Blue Origin founder, Sports Illustrated revealed that Bezos is actually more interested in buying the Seattle Seahawks. If Dan Snyder continues to box him out, then maybe Bezos plans to buy the Seahawks, which is owned by The Paul Allen Trust.

Albert Breer of SI also reported that NFL owners would love to welcome Jeff Bezos into the league. Bezos is the third richest person in the world and given his expertise in running a successful multi-billion dollar company, the team owners and the league might benefit from the changes he might bring.

Dov Kleiman reported that the sale of the Washington Commanders will take place in March and if Dan Snyder continues to block Jeff Bezos from purchasing the team, he might very well move on to another team or, in this case, the Seahawks. It’s not like there is a shortage of money for Bezos.

Let’s see who wins the bid for buying the Commanders and will try to change the face of the franchise and turn it around to become a successful team in the NFL.
