Chiefs’ HC Andy Reid was one of the happiest men at the State Farm Stadium when Harrison Butker scored the field goal to win Super Bowl LVII for the Chiefs over the Eagles. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 despite QB Patrick Mahomes’ injury scare. This was the Chiefs’ third Super Bowl win in their franchise history and was also Andy Reid’s third Super Bowl ring as a coach (two as an HC and one as an assistant coach).

Reid was the Eagles‘ HC for more than 10 years before he moved to the Chiefs in 2013. He has built Kansas City since then to become one of the best teams in the NFL. They have made it to the Super Bowl thrice in the last 4 years and with this Super Bowl victory, have it twice. Needless to say, Reid was ecstatic after winning this one, and while talking to the broadcasters immediately after the game, his excitement levels were at their highest.

He credited his team and Patrick Mahomes for this huge win. He lauded Mahomes’ effort of competing despite being injured and said that he is the MVP for a specific reason. “I’ll give credit to the big old lion, Pat Mahomes, and all those guys around them. They were phenomenal. Mahomes, he’s the MVP! That’s all that needs to be said, right? MVP,” Reid said.

When told to express his excitement and when asked what this victory means to him, he said that he could kiss the presenter right now, but won’t. “It means a lot. I could kiss you right now, but I’m not going to do that,” Reid said with a big grin on his face.

A lot of credit for the Chiefs’ emphatic victory should be given to Reid, and fans on social media did just that by calling him the ‘playmaker’. He orchestrated two great plays that resulted in game-winning touchdowns and fans recognized that.

It was assumed that Reid will retire after this Super Bowl since he has been HC for almost 25 years, but he confirmed after winning his second ring as HC that he isn’t done yet and will be back in the league next season.
