“WOAH”: NFL appeals Sue L. Robinson’s 6-game suspension decision for Deshaun Watson
The Deshaun Watson story might not be over, as most people thought when disciplinary officer Sue L. Robinson decided to suspend the Cleveland Browns quarterback for only the first 6-regular matches of the upcoming 2022 NFL season.
The 26-year-old quarterback had 24 lawsuits against his name, filed by 24 different women masseurs on the allegation that Deshaun Watson had sexually harassed them during his spell at the Houston Texans. The suspension handed out to Watson was considered inadequate by many, and the NFL has now decided to appeal the decision made by Sue L. Robinson.

Deshaun Watson is yet to learn his ultimate fate following the NFL’s decision to appeal Sue L.Robinson’s judgement
The appeal by the league gives NFL commissioner Roger Goodell or someone he designates the authority to impose a stiffer penalty on Watson. Robinson in her 16-page report revealed that the NFL had argued for at least a one-year suspension of Deshaun Watson, and thereby the 6-match suspension fell well short of the league’s expectations.
The NFL on Wednesday exercised its right to appeal, per the collective bargaining agreement. The players’ union will have to respond within Friday. The union also has a second option which would be to appeal the ruling in a federal court which would simply prolong the case judgement.
Robinson had earlier claimed in her report that on the basis of the precedent set by the league in matters of non-violent sexual conduct, she decided to hand in only a 6-match suspension. However, all of that could change if Roger Goodell decides to impose a stricter punishment for the allegations against Deshaun Watson.
