“Ayahuasca is not a drug,” Packers QB Aaron Rodgers strongly defends his use of the psychedelic drug before NFL matches
Aaron Rodgers on life since ayahuasca
Aaron Rodgers recently created a lot of controversies when he revealed on a podcast that the Packers QB experimented with Ayahuasca. Ayahuasca is a psychedelic drug that’s illegal in the United States but is widely available in South America. The drug has hallucinogenic properties.
In a recent appearance on the Pat McAfee Show, Aaron Rodgers firmly stated that there’s nothing wrong with ayahuasca, and cleared that “it’s not a drug, but a plant”.
Aaron Rodgers had tried Ayahuasca back in 2020 but it gained attention on the internet again after Allen Lazard did a celebration against the Chicago Bears.
Allen Lazard scored a touchdown from a pass by Aaron Rodgers and did a weird celebration. Lazard used the football as he was pouring something for the other players, and everyone acted like they had a reaction to it, later falling on the ground.
Packers WR Sammy Watkins later confirmed that it was the ayahuasca celebration for Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers knew that something was happening and stated on the Pat McAfee Show “Allen kind of spread that to the rest of the guys so I was aware they were doing something.”
Aaron Rodgers believes that Ayahuasca shouldn’t be labelled as a drug
Currently, ayahuasca is labelled as a DMT substance in the United States. DMT is a controlled substance therefore it is illegal to manufacture, buy or possess the drug. Though ayahuasca is widely used in South American countries like Peru as it’s a part of their culture.
On the Pat McAfee show, Aaron Rodgers didn’t call ayahuasca a drug, but instead, the Packers QB thinks it is a plant. “Ayahuasca is not a drug,” Rodgers emphatically said. “It has properties in it that have hallucinogenic abilities. But it’s not a drug. We’re talking about plants here.
Aaron Rodgers thinks that ayahuasca and marijuana are in the same category as they are both plants and shouldn’t be touted as drugs. “It’s a very important point to make.” Aaron Rodgers stated. “This is how words are created in society to create a certain bias against certain things. I do think it’s important to go on this ridiculous tangent how words are used to create bias.
Aaron Rodgers won two back-to-back NFL MVP awards and he credits all his MVP success to ayahuasca.
