“Bad look for Jimmy Garoppolo,” Stephen A Smith offers a fierce reaction to QB signing a new deal with the 49ers
Jimmy Garoppolo
Jimmy Garoppolo did the unexpected when he resigned from the 49ers, pretty much everyone thought that Garoppolo would switch teams and play as a starting QB. Instead, he chose to stay with the 49ers and play as a backup to Trey Lance.
The new one year is very good for the 49ers as they now have two starting QBs on one roster. Coach Kyle Shanahan was delighted about the situation and exclaimed that there is no way this is a bad thing.
“We have a starting quarterback as a backup,” Shanahan said. “The rest of the league had a chance to get him, and I feel so fortunate that they didn’t. There’s no way that’s bad for our team.”
Stephen A Smith was disappointed with this decision as he thinks Jimmy Garoppolo has a great record, He has a complete record of 67% in the NFL and the veteran QB also has a Super Bowl to his name. Still, no one wants him. “That’s a very bad look for Jimmy G,” Stephen A Smith said on the First Take.
“Jimmy Garoppolo is fresh off a trip to the NFC Championship game and nobody wanted him!” Garoppolo has maintained a decent QB record that makes him a starting quality QB but he still is a backup to Lance who is in the first year of his senior year contract.

“Happy to have starting QB as a backup”: Kyle Shanahan on Jimmy Garoppolo
Shanahan had made his priorities clear when he decided that Trey Lance will be the starting QB and Jimmy Garoppolo will be the backup. Eventually, it was thought that the veteran QB would leave but no team came looking for him.
It was disheartening for Garoppolo as he is a qualified QB who has proven himself on the field, so Stephen A Smith was puzzled to find out that there are no takeaways for Jimmy G.
Garoppolo has signed a one-year deal with the 49ers after that he will be a free agent. The 49ers QB is also a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Patriots and also helped the 49ers to the Super Bowl in 2019.
