Baker Mayfield does not want to get traded from Panthers
The Carolina Panthers are one of the most unsettled units in the whole of the NFL currently, with their head coach Matt Rhule getting fired a couple of weeks back. Franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield was also snubbed after a string of poor performances and has been reported as a tradeable candidate ahead of the deadline.
The 27-year-old quarterback, however, does not want to get traded if his wish is paid heed by the franchise. His recent performances, though, have not left him much to say, and with P.J. Walker‘s stocks rising, the writing might just be on the wall.
Baker Mayfield had a 1-4 record in his 5 appearances for the franchise under Matt Rhule’s tutelage but still hasn’t given up hope on his Panthers career. Mayfield was ousted from his previous franchise, the Cleveland Browns after they brought in a highly controversial Texans man, Deshaun Watson.

“We all want to play,” Baker Mayfield said, via Joe Person of The Athletic. “That’s the nature of this business, that’s the nature of playing sports.”
Being the senior pro on the side, Mayfield is currently focused on helping out the younger players in the franchise after he suffered an ankle sprain, which has kept him out of action since Week 6. The veteran did not return to the starting lineup even though he was fit, and that could well be an indication of the things to come.
“My role right now is to help us win anyway I can. That’s practicing, helping out in the QB room, doing scout-team stuff. … I’m enjoying what I’m doing right now. Like I said, obviously I’d like to be out there, but P.J. played his ass off and deserves to be out there again. … So I’m doing whatever I can to help this team win,” Baker Mayfield finished off.
