Things are finally falling into place for Baker Mayfield. The star quarterback, who has had a tough season, was told by the Carolina Panthers that he isn’t in their scheme of things, and then he was released only to join the Los Angeles Rams off waivers. Just two days later, he makes his debut for the team and has led them into an unbelievable comeback win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday night.
The Rams, who are in terrible form this season and came into the game with a 3-9 record, had an abysmal start and were trailing 3-16 in the fourth quarter. They needed a bit of urgency to lift the team, and Mayfield did just that. He led the team to a brilliant touchdown, the first of the game for him to reduce the gap by 10-16, and then led a 98-yard drive for a game-winning 23-yard touchdown in the final seconds to bring the team home 17-16.
The Raiders had the game in their pocket and with 3-16 down, things looked bad for the Rams but some horrible penalties in the fourth quarter by the Raiders gave the Rams a ray of hope and they didn’t let it go. Mayfield was 0-22 in his career as a starting quarterback when trailing by 13-plus points, but he changed the stats on his debut for the Rams.

NFL fans went crazy on social media as they didn’t expect Mayfield to deliver such a brilliant performance on debut. They compared his display to that of Tom Brady’s a few days ago. Brady too led the Bucs to a comeback from 3-16 down against the Saints, and Baker Mayfield did exactly the same.
With this win, the Rams are 4-9 for the season and in the final few games, will look to improve their record. They will take on the Packers next week before facing the Broncos on Christmas.
