Often times there are players in the league who surpass everyone before them and set an example for the future generation. Jim Brown was such personality. Often considered as one of the first superstars of football, Brown was an all-time great who recently passed away at the age of 87.

Brown was the NFL champion and also a 3-time MVP. His records and stats speak for himself. However, he wasn’t just isolated to the sport of football and was an influential actor and a civil rights activist as well.

The former Cleveland Browns star led a larger than life personality. It was pretty obvious when many influential personalities spoke for him after the passing away of the legend.

Former US President Barack Obama took to Twitter to share a heartfelt note regarding the legacy of Brown. Obama also iterated how Brown’s impact which will be felt for many years to come.

“I was too young to remember Jim Brown’s playing days, but I knew his legacy. One of the greatest football players ever, he was also an actor and activist – speaking out on civil rights, and pushing other Black athletes to do the same. Our thoughts are with Jim’s wife Monique, his children, and everyone who knew and admired him,” Barack Obama stated on Twitter.

Jim Brown left the NFL in his prime to pursue civil rights and acting

Barack Obama wasn’t the only famous personality to bid farewell to Jim Brown. NBA legend LeBron James and many other NFL players like Myles Garrett spoke heartwarming words about the former NFL legend.

Brown left the league in his prime to focus on his acting career and later became a civil rights activist and inspired many to fight for their fights. This helped him transcend from sports and into a larger than life personality.

However, his journey wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. Brown was arrested more than half a dozen times, mostly on the charges of hitting women. The former Browns fullback had a controversial career that had many ups and downs.

On the sports side of things, Jim Brown had an illustrious NFL career where he led the league in rushes for 8 seasons. During that time, he also went on to become an 8-time All-Pro and featured in 9 Pro Bowls throughout the entirety of his career. The former legend left the game when he was on top. Maybe, if that wasn’t the case then he would have gone on to win more trophies in his career.
