“Not EVEN close”: Bart Scott makes a WILD argument for Tyreek Hill to win Offensive Player of the year over Patrick Mahomes
Tyreek Hill has Bart Scott's vote for Offensive player of the year over Tyreek Hill.
Tyreek Hill has been killing it this season. The former Kansas City Chiefs wideout has thrived as a Miami Dolphin with new quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. With 69 receptions, 961 receiving yards, and an average of 13.9 yards per carry, he has proven that he is the best wideout in the league currently.
His performance has made him a strong contender to win offensive player of the year. The same award that his former quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in the running for right next to him. Mahomes has been having quite the year as well, with 20 touchdowns and 2,159 yards passing.
The battle for OPOY is close between the two and analysts cannot help but debate which of the two deserves this award more. If you ask Bart Scott, he is of the opinion that Tyreek Hill deserves to be the OPOY this season.
Here’s what Bart had to say, “It’s not close. It’s Tyreek Hill. Patrick Mahomes still has Andy Reid, he’s comfortable, and he still has Travis Kelce. Tyreek Hill went to a new environment, a losing culture, and has exceeded expectations. This guy is on pace to 2,000 yards receiving and his franchise QB in Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t even been available due to the concussion. It is rare that you have a free agent come to a new destination and exceed expectations.“

Tyreek Hill has become the heart and soul of the Miami Dolphins offense:
What Tyreek has been able to accomplish is nothing short of remarkable. He has transitioned into the focal point of the Dolphins’ offense this season. We have to give Jaylen Waddle his flowers too, but Hill has been the missing piece which the team desperately needed.
Bart Scott goes on to add, “I understand they’re(Dolphins) behind, but with(Bradley) Chubb, they’re going to be a Super Bowl contender. When you have Patrick Mahomes in the environment that he’s already in, they’re always going to be a Super Bowl contender. Tyreek Hill has elevated…he went to a losing culture and he’s co-dependent. I would pick Tyreek Hill, he’s been a leader, and he’s exceeded expectations. He’s been arguably the best and most unstoppable weapon in football.“
“Patrick Mahomes is still in the fight with Josh Allen, but it’s not even close as far as who’s the OPOY in my opinion,” Scott concludes. It is exciting to see who wins the offensive player of the year this season as the race is extremely close. The stats of every candidate are remarkable and on paper, one can make an argument that they all deserve it.
