The Baltimore Ravens recently shocked everyone by adding star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. This signing will give QB Lamar Jackson a true number 1 receiving weapon. Following the signing, the former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger takes an unnecessary shot at the Ravens’ signal-caller’s accuracy and says OBJ will help Jackson to get some respect from the defense in the passing game.
During a recent episode of his podcast Footbahlin With Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers icon claimed that NFL defenses don’t fear the Ravens QB Lamar Jackson in the passing game and the addition of Odell Beckham Jr. will help the Ravens a lot in that issue.
“You don’t really fear Lamar’s accuracy all the time. He’s got a huge arm, he can make things happen when he scrambles, but you don’t fear him just sitting in the pocket and picking you apart,” Roethlisberger said. “You can bring safeties down because you do fear him running because he’s a different level runner. So you fear that, so you bring safeties down.“
“But now, if you’ve got [Beckham] on the outside, you better put a safety back or it’s one on one, you could just throw it to him. It definitely creates some potential opportunities for that offense and for Lamar to run if he has to or to take those big shots down the field if he needs to if they bring the safeties down,” said Roethlisberger.
In one of the most outrageous statements in the 2023 off-season, the Steeler legend critiqued Lamar Jackson‘s passing abilities. His statement about the Ravens caused massive outrage in social media. A lot of people including the former NFL QB Robert Griffin III bashed the former Steelers QB for his baseless take on social media.
Will Lamar Jackson play for the Ravens 2023 season?
The Lamar Jackson saga in Baltimore continues to be the talking point of this off-season. After plenty of failed contract talks, the Ravens placed Lamar Jackson under the non-exclusive franchise tag.
Lamar hasn’t revealed whether he is going to play for the Ravens in the 2023 season under the franchise tag or not. But he seemed pretty excited about the Ravens’ new addition of the star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.
Jackson, who recently announced that he requested a trade from the Ravens in early March face timed Beckham to congratulate him and both of them were spotted at the LIV nightclub just hours after the signing. But it is unclear whether Jackson would be the starting QB for the Ravens in the 2023 season. Only time will be able to tell the answer to that.
