“Didn’t think Mitch was the issue,” Ben Roethlisberger launches a SCATHING attack on Steelers’ No.1 QB scenario involving Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky
The Pittsburgh Steelers started off the 2022/23 NFL season in prime fashion with a victory against last year’s Super Bowl contenders, Cincinnati Bengals. However, things have not panned out the way they would have liked and they suffered three defeats successively after that.
The poor string of results recently encapsulated by a defeat against the New York Jets have urged Mike Tomlin have a rethink about Mitch Trubisky’s status as the starting quarterback for the franchise.
The head coach made a QB change during the second half against the Jets as draft pick Kenny Pickett was brought on to replace Trubisky.

Ben Roethlisberger gave his opinion on Mike Tomlin replacing Mitch Trubisky with Kenny Pickett as the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback
This change in personnel from the Steelers has surprised former veteran quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger who commented on the issue during his latest appearance on Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger.
The former Steelers quarterback claimed that he felt Trubisky was not the primary reason for their failure and it was more of what the offense had to offer as a whole. However, he could visualize what Mike Tomlin wanted to do by making the change and felt that the head coach knows what’s best for his side.
“I was surprised, because I didn’t think that Mitch was (the main issue),” Roethlisberger said on the newest episode of his podcast. “The whole offense looks stagnant to me. They’re not running on the ball real well. There’s nothing really going on.
“I get what you’re trying to do. You’re trying to create a spark, which I think happened. You will get a spark when you put someone new in at a position like that. It’s going to create some sort of a spark, it’s going to create energy. And you got that, but in my opinion, I don’t know that it needed to happen, but Mike (Tomlin) is the coach, he did it … and everything kind of fell into place.”
