“He is everything you wish for”: Bengals owner showers praise on Joe Burrow, calls him a TOP priority

Joe Burrow

Quarterback is considered the most important position is football by almost everyone so it should come as no surprise that teams are focus on keeping their Quarterback under contract, specially when the quarterback is someone as special as Joe Burrow.

The former no.1 overall pick and the man that took Cincinnati Bengals further than any quarterback has in decades. The Bengals surprised everyone last season and after defeating some of the stronger teams in the competition, made their way to the Super Bowl where they fell agonizingly short from winning the coveted title.

Bengals owner Mike Brown while talking about Bengals failure to sign safety Jessie Bates to a contract extension stated that-“that it’s hard to make all the pieces fit under the salary cap.” but there one piece the Bengals will want to fit under the salary no matter what and that’s the College Football National Champion and Heisman award winning Quarterback Joe Burrow.

Burrow the man who powered Bengals to a surprise Super Bowl appearance last season will be eligible for extension after this season, an extension that’s a no brainer move for the Bengals. “I can tell you that we couldn’t be happier with Joe Burrow,” Brown said, via Ben Baby of ESPN.com. “He’s everything you would wish for, especially for a quarterback in Cincinnati. Our whole focus is going to be on keeping him here.”

Keeping Burrow Cincinnati will definitely cost some serious dough, specially considering the market that’s there for elite Quarterbacks such as Burrow. The reason Bates and Bengals haven’t come to an agreement may be the future contract that Burrow will be offered which can be pretty big considering Burrow’s pedigree. Nonetheless Bengals who have franchise tagged Bates for this season are will try to make Bates stay as he “fits with” the Bengals according to Brown.

Keeping the roster that lost to the LA Rams in the Super Bowl earlier will be tough for the Bengals with the likes of Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins coming up for extensions soon.
