The prayers of thousands of people across the country have been answered as Damar Hamlin has made significant progress in his recovery and was finally discharged from the hospital. The Buffalo Bills DB was getting treatment after he suffered a cardiac arrest during an NFL game.

Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest during the Bills-Bengals game in week 17 after a collision with the Bengals WR Tee Higgins. Furthermore, he was administered CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and resuscitated on the field by the Bills’ assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington and his team. Moreover, players and fans started donating money to Hamlin’s GoFundMe campaign which the DB himself set for his charity foundation before he was drafted by the Bills in the 2020 NFL Draft. Hamlin set the campaign to raise $2500 but ended up raising more than $8 million.

And now as a part of his substantial improvement, Hamlin has been discharged from the University of Medical Center on Monday and was transferred to a hospital in Buffalo for further treatment.

Dr. William Knight, a professor of emergency medicine at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine said that he traveled with Hamlin to the airport along with the medical staff. “I traveled with him to the airport this morning with our UC Health air care and mobile care crew, including teammates who were with us on the field when Damar Hamlin collapsed,” said Knight. Dr. Timothy Pritts, the division chief of general surgery at UC Medical Center said that Hamlin’s on an accelerated trajectory from the life-threatening event he underwent.

He also said that Hamlin has still a few ways to go in terms of his health improvement. The young safety himself tweeted that he’s grateful for the wonderful care he received at the Cincinnati Hospital. “Grateful for the awesome care I received at UCMC. Happy to be back in Buffalo. The docs and nurses at Buffalo General have already made me feel at home!” tweeted Hamlin on Monday.

As the doctors have already noted, this is way too early to about Hamlin’s return to professional football and now they are just focused on getting him further down the road of recovery.
