The Buffalo Bills recently secured a decisive 32-6 victory against the New York Jets following the dismissal of offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey. Before the game, head coach Sean McDermott motivated quarterback Josh Allen by urging him to bounce back from adversity and rediscover the joy of playing.

McDermott’s message to Allen was clear: regain that spark in the eyes and have fun on the field again. Allen took this advice to heart, resulting in a remarkable performance where he scored three touchdowns, helping the team break a two-game losing streak.

After a troubled midway, the Buffalo Bills have finally proved their amazing start this season wasn’t just a coincidence. After the extraordinary victory, the quarterback shared what helped him shift his focus on the game, referencing head coach McDermott’s comments. The quarterback said via the franchise’s website:

Our team was as energetic as we needed to be. A lot of that, for better or worse, comes from the quarterback. So just making that a point of emphasis throughout the week. Like every season, man, it has its ups and downs. You’re going to have adversity. It’s how you bounce back from adversity. And sometimes it takes a spark like this to ignite your team.

Josh Allen also hinted that the rough week that they went through was exactly what they needed to back on the right track.

There’s no doubt that the sudden firing of OC Dorsey impacted hard on Allen, but he was quite clear knowing this doesn’t mean his team has lost all hope. And the proof of how hard the team worked was seen in week 11 on Sunday’s game.

How the Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott failed to fix the red zone woes

It’s not hidden from the eye that at the end of the day, it’s head coach Sean McDermott making the decisions, especially when it comes to his assistance. And throughout the time of McDermott with the Bills, they sure have quite some misses on coordinators.

Dorsey was promoted to become an OC by him back in 2022 and despite the terrible elimination of the team in the playoffs, McDermott decided not to fire Dorsey.

In recent times, the Bills major struggled with a lack of efficiency in the red zone. The team scored 68.5% touchdowns when they reached a 20-yard line, which is the third-best in the league. And if the last three weeks are eliminated, they have plummeted to 54.55%.
