Russell Wilson has had the worst possible start to life at Denver Broncos, as they have won just 2 and lost massive 4 games. Wilson was signed by the Broncos to change their fortunes and make them title challengers, but right now the nine-time Pro Bowl winner has done the exact opposite.
The Broncos are playing worse than last season. It can also bring this down to a disappointing offense and a new HC who hasn’t performed until now.
Below average performance by Russell Wilson has led to his fans turning away from him and have also booed him in recent games. Wilson has been privy to lots of insults and hates on social media as well.
NFL analyst and radio host Bomani Jones stood up in the Broncos’ QB defense and stated that Wilson is getting so much hate because of racism.
“People do not do this to white quarterbacks no matter how obnoxious or disliked they are.” Bomani Jones stated on his podcast The Right Time.
This was a controversial statement made by Jones and there has been no sufficient evidence to support this as every single QB gets criticized and hated if he doesn’t play well.
Another reason Russell Wilson is getting so much criticism can stem from the hype created by the Broncos when they traded him. Dubbed Mr. Unlimited, Wilson was touted to change the Broncos’ fortune as he was a formidable QB in his Seahawks days.

Fans are usually very understanding and can help the team and players a lot even in their rough times, that’s what loyalty is, but one of the reasons Russell Wilson is getting criticized is because the Broncos are playing one of the most boring football in all of the NFL.
Their games are usually lackluster and lack moments of magic that are created by quarterbacks. HC Nathaniel Hackett is also being blamed for his tactics that set up these boring games.
Russell Wilson will need to bounce back and prove his haters wrong, but all he can do now is to recover from his injury and focus on rehabilitation as the Super Bowl winner suffered a ‘significant’ hamstring injury in the game against the Chargers that they lost in OT.
The Broncos’ backup QB Brett Rypien has been preparing for the upcoming game against the Jets as Wilson is still unsure due to his injury. If Russell Wilson is the problem, we can expect the Broncos to perform significantly better against the Jets.
