“I’m tired of being this close,” Frustrated Justin Fields VENTS out anger after close defeat against the Commanders

Justin Fields

Justin Fields is a young quarterback and like any talented top-drafted young stud who is part of a struggling franchise, Fields has probably seen more Ls than Ws and he feels tired of this. Fields was drafted by the Chicago Bears as the 11th pick in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL draft.

After the then-starting quarterback of the Chicago Bears, Andy Dalton had suffered an injury, Fields took over as the starting quarterback and now has a total 4-11 record as an NFL starting quarterback which must have been quite a shock for the young 23-year-old who only lost 2 games throughout his 2-year college career as a starter at college football powerhouse the Ohio State University.

Many young QBs are never able to adjust to the shock of losing in the NFL and fall off. Teams always try to make it easy for the QBs, especially if the team is overall terrible like the Chicago Bears. But the most encouraging words can only give hope for the light at the end of this dark tunnel and with littered with close losses can quickly turn frustrating to hear.

“I feel like I’ve been hearing it for so long.” Justin Fields on being told that the team is close

Justin Fields and his Chicago Bears faced the Washington Commanders and lost a close game 12-7, with a missed opportunity to win the game with seconds left on the clock. Such games are frustrating, especially for a young man like Fields who gives his all and even plays through injury to win.

The most anyone can do for the young man is to give him words of encouragement and tell him how the team is almost there and things will change. But it has been too many times for Fields to hear those words, perhaps.

As per Chris Emma, Fields said after the game- “We always get told that we’re almost there, almost there. Me personally, I’m tired of being almost there. I’m tired of being this close. I feel like I’ve been hearing it for so long. At the end of the day, all you can do is get back to work.”

It is disheartening when you give something all you have got, but still face disappointment. Such words of encouragement in the end may come across as shallow. We can only hope for Justin Fields’ sake things soon take a turn for the better. The Chicago Bears will next face the New England Patriots.
