San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy suffered a potentially game-ending elbow injury during their match against Philadelphia Eagles. Following his injury, Brock later reported to their coach Kyle Shanahan that he couldn’t throw the ball more than 5 to 10 yards.

The team eventually fell to the Eagles, canceling their hopes to reach Super Bowl LVII. Further updates on his injury, as well as his next game stance, will be reported once his MRI reports are out. As of now, it’s hard to predict the damage it has caused.

Currently, with him sidelined due to injury, the team will be concentrating on the offseason rather than the Super Bowl’s shattered dream. According to ESPN reports, the quarterback has injured his ulnar collateral ligament. They are hoping that it’s not ruptured, but nothing can be stated before the MRI reports are out.

Following Brock Purdy’s injury, his backup fourth-string quarterback, Josh Johnson, was called onto the field. The 49ers signed the veteran player after they lost Jimmy Garoppolo to a season-ending injury. Unfortunately, Josh suffered a concussion during the third stint, and Purdy was forced to return to the field.

During the game, Purdy noted that his forearm started swelling near the elbow and it was “extremely painful,” Purdy noted, “My arm just felt like it stretched out. Just felt like, really, a lot of just shocks all over from my elbow down to my wrist — front and back. Just pain, really, all over.”

Following their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Purdy talked about how bad he felt for the team, “It just hurts. I’m so sad for the older guys. Fred, Trent, George, Arik Armstead…For this to happen in the first drive really…I’m just frustrated but more sad than those guys than anything”.

The incident happened when the San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback tried to pass the ball. Purdy was stopped by linebacker Haason Reddick and mishandled the ball. The Eagles took advantage of the fumbling situation. During the event, Reddick’s helmet crashed into Purdy’s arm, making matters worse.

Purdy said, “Coming into an environment like this locked in ready to roll and then an injury happens, and then the way the game goes just totally shifts in a different direction”.

“It’s just all these emotions, and again, I come back to I want it for these guys, the older guys more than anybody. As a rookie, you can say you’ve got your whole career, but these guys have told me it’s rare to get here. So, it’s hard. It’s not easy,” Purdy to ESPN.
