Since the very beginning of the 2023-24 NFL season, Brock Purdy has been having the form of his life. He is making things look seem too easy for the San Francisco 49ers. His gigantic performances in the big games against the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles helped the team to step up in the NFC. Presently, they are the favorite to gain the No.1 seed in the playoffs from the conference.
With his brilliant performance on the gridiron, Purdy has earned the hype of being one of the strong contenders for the MVP award. From analysts to teammates, everyone has acknowledged Purdy as a strong MVP candidate.
However, Purdy has remained humbled every time he was asked about him being a strong contender for the coveted award. In a recent interaction with the Bay Area radio station KNBR’s “Murph and Markus” show on Tuesday morning, the presently No. 1 quarterback added,
When I get asked the question and stuff, it comes to mind, and the first thing is what an honor.--I’m not taking anything away from that. It’s what an honor, and very honored to hear that.Brock Purdy (H/T: 49erswebzone.com)
The San Francisco 49ers have four games left in the season. They are presently standing at a 10-3 record and sharing the same win record with both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys. The NFC Championship is witnessing a neck-to-neck battle between these three teams.
In addition, the Dallas Cowboys’ QB Dak Prescott is also in the race to win the MVP. To secure that prize, the NFC Championship will be the penultimate test.
Purdy knows that. That’s the sole reason he is focussing on winning the Championship. It is to be seen who ends up being the NFC Championship winner and eventually the Super Bowl competitor.
Brock Purdy gives his flowers to his teammate
Amid MVP discussions, Purdy gives his flowers to his teammates. The QB believes without the support that his teammates provided, he would not have the stats that he has now.
If anything, I look at it more as a team award. I have a great surrounding cast. I’ve got guys around me that are all making plays, a great defense, great special teams. And so that’s a testament to the team that I have.
It is true that Purdy has received good support from his teammates this season. Be it, Christian McCaffrey or Deebo Samuel, everyone has provided their best to make things happen for the 49ers this season.
