During the 2022 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers found a gem in the late rounds as they drafted the Iowa State quarterback Brock Purdy as the dead last pick. Purdy had a remarkable rookie year and was nominated for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award despite playing just 6 games in the 2022 regular season.
However, Purdy hasn’t earned the recognition of many experts yet, since he’s playing for the stacked 49ers team under the ingenious head coach Kyle Shanahan. But Purdy recently shrugged off the system QB criticisms and claims he is just focused on winning games for his team.
Purdy recently made an appearance on an episode of The Rich Eisen Show, where the host Rich Eisen asked the 49ers QB how he responds to the criticism about him being just a product of Kyle Shanahan’s system and Purdy had an answer ready to go.
I don't really care. I just want to win, I want to help this team win. People can say what they want, that's cool. . . I just want to help this team win and reach our goals and then we'll see at the end of all this if that's true or not.Brock Purdy on The Rich Eisen Show
Purdy and the Niners are coming off an upset loss against the Cleveland Browns in their week 6 game. The Browns shocked everyone by handing the Niners their first loss of the season without their starting QB Deshaun Watson.
Furthermore, Purdy individually also had one of the worst games of his short career so far. They would look to erase that loss by securing a big victory against the Minnesota Vikings in their week 7 matchup this Monday night.
Brock Purdy and the Niners have a tough road game ahead of them
As many expected before the start of the 2023 season, the San Francisco 49ers are dominating the NFC with a 5-1 record. Now they will look to improve that with a massive victory against the Vikings in their Monday Night Football game.
The 2022 rookie sensation Brock Purdy has been one of the major reasons for the success of the San Francisco-based football team. Through the first six weeks, the 23-year-old QB has registered 1,396 passing yards and 10 touchdowns while just throwing 1 interception.
If Purdy can continue his good run throughout the season, the 49ers will have a good shot at winning the Super Bowl this season. However, for now, Purdy and the Niners would be focused on the Vikings, who they are scheduled to face in a tough road game in their week 7 game.
