“Feels Terrible”: Bucs GM Jason Licht is devastated after Ryan Jensen’s knee injury
The potential title-challenging team faced a huge setback even before the season started. The highly influential Ryan Jensen picked up a knee injury on Thursday. It is believed to be a serious injury and a proper diagnosis will be reported in the coming days
General manager Jason Licht told reporters he “feels terrible” for Jensen, but did not yet have an update. “That usually happens when you have a player like Ryan who is obviously a very good player but also just a great person and a leader, and his toughness things like that, about him, that define him,” general manager Jason Licht said. “When a player like that gets hurt and he’s played through several injuries in his career, without missing any time, it deflates everybody. We’ll wait to find out what it is and we’re hoping for the best.“
What’s next for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?
Jensen was suffering from an ankle sprain during the Buc’s 31-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles but still played through it. He also attempted to play through the 30-27 divisional playoff loss to the LA Rams last year.
Ryan Jensen’s injury can be a huge setback to the Bucs if not handled carefully. Currently, second-year lineman Robert Hainsey is covering for Ryan Jensen until he recovers from his injury. Jensen is an integral part of the squad and his duties became more important after the early retirement of Ali Marpet and the departure of Alex Cappa to Cincinnati via free agency.
Jensen, 31, signed a new contract worth $39 million for 3 years. The 2021 Pro Bowler is the team’s toughest and most important interior lineman. With his absence, the management will have to look for a quick replacement if they still want to fight for the Super Bowl.
