Von Miller found himself in hot water last week when he was arrested for alleged domestic violence. The pass rusher for the Buffalo Bills was accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend, and an arrest warrant was issued against him.

Miller abided by the law and turned himself in to the Glenn Heights Police Department just hours later, and he posted bond for $5,000

While the investigation and legal proceedings relating to this matter are still lis pendens, the Buffalo Bills are not going to jump to any conclusions and will not restrict Von Miller from playing this week or the subsequent weeks until the legal proceedings reach their conclusion. This week, the Bills face off against their rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

GM Brandon Beane made it clear via ESPN that the team is not going to hold Von Miller guilty until proven innocent.

We weren't there. We're not investigators. We don't obviously, you know, we had our conversations with Von and understood what he believes happened and so, from that standpoint we can't get into it. It's an open investigation, and so we'll just, let the legal process play out, and he'll participate like normal in practice.

Von Miller has not been placed on the NFL Commissioner’s exempt list

The legal proceedings will not have any impact on Von Miller’s playtime in the NFL. The Bills have been in “constant communication” with the NFL, and as of now, do not expect that the linebacker will be placed on the commissioner’s exempt list.

The league is also allowing the entire legal process to play out before taking a stance on the matter.

Von Miller was with the team on Wednesday and was not available in the locker room when media had access. HC Sean McDermott echoed the sentiments of GM Beane as he said:

I don’t need to address it after it’s already been addressed. It’s a very, very serious situation and something we don’t take lightly at all.

Von Miller risks being charged with third-degree felony assault of a pregnant woman, which is punishable with up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $10,000. The Bills found out about this matter at the same time it became public information.

The team has handled this situation better than the Matt Araiza fiasco, wherein the punter was accused of s*xually assaulting a woman and was let go before the legal proceedings against him could conclude.
