“This guy screams red flags!” – Caleb Williams’ reason behind not undergoing medical evaluations with teams at NFL Combine doesn’t sit well with fans on social media

The top NFL Draft prospect declining the medical examination at the NFL Scouting Combine was indeed breaking news and it gathered some intense level of attention throughout the league. However, Caleb Williams later clarified his reason for simply meeting with interested teams. 

Williams’ decision at the Combine was not surprising at all, given he opted to enter the upcoming draft without an agent to negotiate on his terms and his current draft standing. Unfortunately, this one decision attracted the kind of setback from fans and some analysts which the USC quarterback hadn’t expected. 

Williams said rectifying his decision to forgo the medical examination:

I’ll be doing the medical stuff, just not here in Indy. I’ll be doing it at the team interviews. Not 32 teams can draft me, there’s only one of me. So the teams that I go to, to visit, those teams will have the medical and that will be it.

The reason why Williams’ image has built aside from the typical NFL draft prospect is that the quarterback broke the generational norm when he refused to authorize sharing his medical details with all 32 teams across the NFL. Williams has made it very clear that he’s not going to be a regular NFL player but will follow the footsteps of legends and establish his name in the pages of history. 

And all his unconventional decisions before the upcoming Drafts don’t change the fact that he has the highest odds of being the No. 1 overall pick, to be selected by the Chicago Bears. 

Fans react to Caleb Williams’ controversial decision 

Unfortunately for the young quarterback, fans don’t seem to agree with him on various things. The most highlighted one remains his decision to forgo the medical examination at the Combine– one of the most crucial parts of the event.

On top of that, he refused to share his medical records with all the teams of the NFL, which didn’t sit well in the eyes of NFL fans. As it builds an image of Williams that says he believes he is better than everyone and for fans, that sounds like a red flag. One fan wrote, “This guy screams red flags” while another wrote, “Just gotta say Caleb having a very weird draft process.” Here are some of the reactions:

Fans call his decision a ‘power move’ and ‘odd.’ Some even doubted his mental well-being, in light of such odd decisions.
