The Detroit Lions won their week 16 game against the Minnesota Vikings. As a result of that win, they have now clinched the division title for the first time since the 1993 season. They are 11-4 through 16 weeks and are in the hunt to win the conference’s first seed. Amidst all this, former Lions superstar receiver Calvin Johnson responding to the team’s two-year-old tweet congratulating him for getting inducted into the Hall of Fame is going viral.

Johnson was selected second overall in the 2007 NFL Draft and played eight seasons for the Lions. During his time in Detroit, Johnson accumulated 11,619 receiving yards and 83 touchdowns. He holds the NFL record for most receiving yards in a season with 1,964 yards in 2012. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.

The Lions’ official Twitter account posted a congratulatory message for Johnson when he was inducted into the Hall. However, the receiver responded to that message after two years, once the Lions clinched the NFC North title on Sunday. The timing of the response was a bit odd and the fans on social media picked up on that.

The Lions were never in contention to win a Super Bowl when Johnson was with them. However, he made a massive impact on the team and in the league as a whole during his eight seasons in the NFL.

The Lions have been fantastic this season. They came into the campaign with a lot of intrigue surrounding them. After a brilliant end to their 2022 season, the Lions started this season on fire, defeating the reigning Super Bowl champions in the season opener. Since then, the Lions have peeled off 11 wins and are looking to clinch the top seed in the conference. They will play their next game against the Dallas Cowboys next Saturday.
