The Los Angeles Clippers star forward Paul George recently created a massive storm on social media by claiming that NBA athletes could easily transition to the NFL and dominate the sport, but there’s no chance the NFL players can play basketball at the NBA level.

During a recent episode of Podcast P with Paul George, the Clippers star was joined by the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and the Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce. When the trio was talking about athletes transitioning from one sport to another, George shared his controversial take on that topic.

“I don’t think a football player could cross over to the NBA,” George said. “Our game is completely skilled. For me, I think for NFL guys to be able to play in the league, they gotta be a hell of a shooter, right? Otherwise, we’re not gonna guard you. That athleticism, that strength, that means nothing if you can’t shoot the ball in our league.”

“I think as far as playing in the NBA, I don’t think there’s a chance,” said George in his podcast. This video clip of Paul George’s controversial statement went viral on social media and became the hottest topic to discuss. The take received mixed reactions on social media and even some NFL players chimed in to give their input.

Cam Heyward doesn’t agree with Paul George’s questionable take

While some players like the Eagles CB Darius Slay somewhat agreed with the Clippers forward Paul George’s take, the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Cameron Heyward didn’t hold back in his clap back.

“Until they get smacked. Them dudes don’t want no smoke across the middle or trying to hit a hole,” wrote the Steelers DL Heyward in one tweet before adding another one. “No NBA player wants to be in backs on backers or pass rush in training camp. I’ve seen guys quit who actually play football.”

Furthermore, the New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Cameron Jordan also shared a similar sentiment. “Maaaaan… Tmentality alone they ain gon make it through a New Orleans training camp, let alone get to a season but I’m intrigued no load management over this way,” tweeted Jordan.

Paul George’s absurd claim about how NBA players can easily dominate the NFL didn’t sit well with the football players. Especially since the NFL is a contact sport, it is highly unlikely that basketball athletes would take multiple hits and still perform at a high level.
