It seems like this offseason, there will be one more franchise in search of their savior quarterback– Denver Broncos. As the sources say the team’s current quarterback Russell Wilson could possibly be throwing his last past in the orange jersey.
This brings the name of Pittsburgh Steelers up front, who are for sure in the quarterback market after releasing Mitchell Trubisky just the day after the grand Super Bowl, February 12. In the 2023 regular season, the franchise went in three different directions at three different times with three different quarterbacks. That’s why, for the next season, the Steelers are looking for a more stable approach with their quarterback.
Speaking of which, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson gave his insight on Wilson’s potential landing positions, which is likely to be another AFC team.
In the recent episode of the ‘Night Cap’ podcast, Johnson said:
We got to work on the Steelers now. A little birdie told me, and I said this many shows ago, Russell Wilson’s coming on over to the Steelers.Chad Johnson said
With the Broncos, Wilson signed a five-year contract, however, it is likely to end this offseason due to the ongoing friction with the franchise. It was the reason why head coach Sean Payton benched Wilson and made Jarrett Stidham the starter, saying the team’s offense needed a “spark,” in the final two games of the season.
Broncos coach Sean Payton open to QB change ahead of Super Bowl
Ahead of the Super Bowl, the Broncos head coach made appearances on a radio show, where he revealed how the franchise remains uncertain on whether to keep QB Wilson for the 2024 season or to release him. Payton was asked does he sees the 35-year-old starting the next season.
The head coach replied:
That’s a possibility.Sean Payton replied
Shortly after that, Payton also had a conversation with Kay Adams on her show ‘Up and Adams’ where he illustrated how he and his whole coaching staff are in search to find a good quarterback for next season. It can be from the building or free agency or from the NFL draft, but it sure would come quicker than the franchise’s decision concerning Wilson.
