Bold, resilient, and vivid—these are some of the adjectives that come to mind while talking about Erin Andrews. However, she was once scared to break down in tears in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers locker room after being intimidated by a Bucs player. 

For context, it happened at the very beginning of her career when she used to freelance for Orlando Station, and during one of her assignments, she was sent to the Bucs locker room for sounds.

There, one player was particularly very “nasty” to her. Andrews has never once mentioned this incident in her past, and Charissa Thompson’s jaw dropped hearing about it. 

The Fox veteran sideline reporter answered a fan’s question, asking whether or not she has ever “cried at work,” during the latest episode of her and Thompson’s “Calm Down” podcast last Friday.

He physically turned his back away from me in the middle of his scrum. He also told me to go back, rehearse my question, and come back when I was ready. I was mortified.

Andrews recalled that she was around 19–20 years old when it happened, and the player knew she was young, yet he didn’t give her a chance. She felt ‘stumbled’ at that moment and instantly started crying in the Bucs locker room. 

That’s when Derrick Brooks and John Lynch stepped in to help her. 

Two players in particular, Derrick Brooks and John Lynch, saw it, pulled me over, and said, ‘What do you need?’ — Royalty!
