In all senses of the word, Charvarius Ward‘s NFL career is an example for players to never lose hope. After remaining undrafted in 2018, he took trials at several franchises. Eventually, the Dallas Cowboys decided to take a chance with him.

However, Ward never played a snap for the Cowboys. Just four months into his life in Dallas, they waved him off. One team’s loss is another team’s gain. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and went on to win a Super Bowl.

A successful four seasons in Kansas earned him a move to the San Francisco 49ers. And they are due to face the Cowboys this Sunday. Every football fan is aware of the rivalry between the two giants of the game. Just like Trey Lance, Charvarius Ward is a key part of the matchup.

Recently, the media asked the 27-year-old if there was any animosity between the two teams. In typical Ward fashion, he said, “Probably for them, not for us. We won, so we good.”

The 49ers have won the last two games against Jerry Jones’ America’s Team. Even though it’s a midseason battle this time around, the tension is no different. Especially when both of these sides are touted to be in the Super Bowl next year. It will be a crunch match that will come down to the quarterback play, according to veteran ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith.

Charvarius Ward is clear to play

Both the Cowboys and the 49ers have had a stellar start to the season. The Bay Area franchise is unbeaten so far. Barring one hiccup against the Arizona Cardinals, the Stars are a force to be reckoned with. But even before the game, the 49ers received some good news.

After sitting on the sidelines during their recent practice, many believed that Charvarius Ward would miss the match. General manager John Lynch revealed that the cornerback had a heel bruise. But later, Lynch gave assurance that Ward would be part of the Cowboys game.

“Mooney’s okay,” Lynch claimed on the “Murph and Mac” show. “We’re just limiting some of the practice. But he’s good to go and just trying to let the thing die down a little.”

According to Pro Football Focus, Ward has been the 49ers highest-rated defensive back this season. He has been targeted 26 times, allowing 16 receptions for 162 yards while coming away with an interception. It’s fair to expect him to suit up in the red and gold at Levi’s Stadium on October 9.
