As Chase Young became the newest member of the San Francisco 49ers after a blockbuster trade deal with the Washington Commanders, he is the least worried about a long-term contract. The 24-year-old defensive end is thrilled to be a part of the Kyle Shanahan-led team, ranked first in the NFC division at 5-3.

And the last thing on his mind is his contract and whether it will become long-term or not. He said:

I’m not even worried about that right now. I’m just worried about learning this playbook and just being the best player that I can be.

Luckily for the 49ers, Young joined to strengthen their pass rush and slotted him opposite defensive lineman Bosa, who is also his former teammate from Ohio State.

After his former team retracted from pushing his contract for a fifth year, Young is going to be a free agent this offseason. The 49ers are composed of many prominent NFL players, such as Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. They recently signed Javon Hargrave in a big contract this offseason. With that being said, if the charm of Young works on the field, there are chances he could land a long-term contract with the 49ers in the offseason.

But the defensive end isn’t concerned about that, as he is more focused “in the building with winners.” Young also highlighted the difference in the work environment of his former team Commanders and the 49ers, as he arrived in the locker room. He backed his words by saying:

It's like you're expected to win, and it's just like that vibe of 'we're going to win.' I'm just excited to be blessed with the opportunity to be with this franchise.

How Chase Young expressed excitement about reuniting with Nick Bosa?

In the first press conference after joining the 49ers, the 24-year-old edge rusher shared his excitement to join the team as it was his dream to play for them. He considers the 49ers a winning team and therefore, he is happy to play by their side for the remaining half of this season.

The defensive end also shared how he feels reuniting with his former teammate, Bosa. Young thinks of the 49ers’ DE as his big brother. And as slotted opposite him, Young is keen to get back out on the field and aims to win the Super Bowl with the 49ers.

This season, Young had finally gained full recovery after years of sustaining injuries and working on getting back to his old form, which made him so highly-touted after the Ohio State.
