Super Bowl LVIII concluded with many stories, but the most popular one remains the San Francisco 49ers’ head coach’s inability to win big games. The Niners dominated almost the whole of the 2023 season, they were the first team to qualify for the playoffs, but they fell short against a team, who were not even favorite to win the Vince Lombardi trophy.
Kyle Shanahan has unfortunately built a failing narrative of himself among the fans, which led to him enduring a lot of heat after the tragic Super Bowl loss despite getting so close. While opposite him is the Kansas City Chiefs head coach– his arch-rival of big-game, who has now become synonymous with ‘greatness’ among the NFL coaches.

Interestingly, it wasn’t too long ago when Andy Reid trailed the same narrative as Shanahan does today. The 66-year-old won the first of his three Super Bowl trophies after 20 years of struggle as a head coach. It was after he got his star quarterback Patrick Mahomes that he could coach the Chiefs to three subsequent Super Bowl wins.
But much recently, he was sitting at the same spot as Shanahan. That’s why, when he was asked about the Niners’ head coach at the NFL owners’ meeting, he offered a generous piece of advice to him.
Reid said:
Just keep going. He knows. He’s a smart guy, and he’s a heck of a football coach. Just keep doing what you’re doing and somewhere you pop over the hill there…I know he’s got a great young quarterback, and him with a great young quarterback is deadly.Andy Reid said
Chiefs to offer Andy Reid historic pay raise
After the two back-to-back Super Bowl victories, the Chiefs had decided to offer head coach Reid a grand contract extension, making him the highest-paid NFL coach. The negotiations for the new contract ought to begin soon.

However, before the big game, there were speculations about the potential retirement scenario for Ried. But he had given no such indications or signs to confirm the news, he’s rather focused on preparing the Chiefs for the three-peat.
The last contract extension signed by the head coach was after the victory of Super Bowl LIV. And now, the franchise intends to make him one of the highest-paid head coaches in the history of the league, given, that he’s the third highest-paid head coach in AFC West.
