Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Willie Gay Jr. ridiculed the Cincinnati Bengals’ offense before the AFC Championship game between the Chiefs and the Bengals on Sunday. The top two seeds from the AFC will meet for a place in the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year. Last season, the Bengals stunned the Chiefs giving birth to a modern-age rivalry between two top QBs- Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.
Mahomes is the strong favorite to win the MVP this season and is considered the best QB in the NFL currently. He has beaten almost everyone except one man- Joe Burrow. The Kansas City QB has a 0-3 record against Burrow and is still looking for that elusive win over the Cincinnati QB.
Ahead of the Championship game, a lot is talked about the Bengals’ offense solely because of Burrow’s record over Mahomes and the Chiefs. The Bengals players are also calling the Arrowhead stadium ‘Burrowhead’ because of his dominance against the Chiefs. LB Willie Gay Jr. talked to reporters after practice and savagely dismissed the threat about the Bengals’ offense. When asked what impresses him about the Bengals’ offense, Willie coldly said “Nothing.”
He further said that he just loves playing the sport and doesn’t believe in talking much. He would rather deliver on the football field and would handle business when it’s time. “I’m just excited to be playing football. That stuff – it’s just what comes with the game. Like coach Reid said, ‘We don’t do no talking; we just go.’ Handle business when it’s time to go,” he added.

NFL Twitter reacts to Willie Gay’s comments on the Bengals
People on social media didn’t get affected by Willie’s confidence. Surprisingly, they trashed him and labeled him ‘fake’ for dismissing Joe Burrow-led Bengals. They have been brilliant all season and are one of the best offensive teams in the NFL. Hence, Willie’s comments didn’t go well with the fans as he sounded fake. The irony is that Willie himself said that the coach said not to talk much and, to the contrary, he did exactly the same.
The Chiefs are the favorites going into the game, but Burrow’s edge over Mahomes balances things out. Playing in Arrowhead will give the Chiefs a certain upper hand, but that will also bring some kind of added pressure as Mahomes would desperately want to reach his third Super Bowl in the last 5 years.
