“He’s a declining player,” Analyst Chris Canty lambasts Russell Wilson, believes the QB is UNFIXABLE

Chris Canty had some harsh words for Russell Wilson.

This season has been nothing short of a tragedy for the Denver Broncos. The team has a stacked roster on paper, with great players in all positions across the offensive and defensive depth. Unfortunately, the Broncos have failed to live up to the hype and have been the most underwhelming team in the entire NFL. They sit at the bottom of the AFC West below the Las Vegas Raiders, another team that has had a terrible season.

The Denver Broncos’ struggles have stemmed from the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson has failed to live up to his potential and former Head Coach Nathaniel Hackett’s play calling did not make things any easier for the team. Wilson has been the biggest shocker this season as he has been one of the more consistent quarterbacks in the league for the last decade but this season. He has looked different and appears to have checked out.

Russell Wilson has thrown just 12 touchdowns this season. He has a completion percentage of 60.1%, making this year one of the worst years in his entire career. Wilson signed a massive $240 million extension this offseason which locks him with the Denver Broncos for another 4 years. Considering all these factors, he has been one of the biggest disappointments for fans this season.

Chris Canty believes Russell Wilson is a descending player:

Chris Canty does not see Russell Wilson bouncing back from his horrific performance this season.

ESPN analyst Chris Canty appeared on First Take and discussed his thoughts on Wilson. Canty does not believe the future is bright for the quarterback and does not see him bouncing back from his struggles. Take a look at what Canty had to say.

“Russell Wilson is a declining player, the evidence is what we’re seeing this year but also what we saw the last couple of years in Seattle…his inability to be able to stay healthy is a big concern. Then some of the decision-making that we’re seeing from Russ is not something that we’ve come to know him for.” Wilson has struggled this season and at times, some of his interceptions have irked not just fans but his own teammates.

Canty goes on to add, “You can’t blame the Head Coach for poor decision-making from the quarterback…Russ is not great at playing outside/inside of the structure of the offense. Russell Wilson doesn’t feel like he has the athleticism to continue to do that and that is why he has a career worse 6-game losing streak…career lows in QBR, touchdowns, and yards per attempt. The evidence is there, Russell Wilson is a descending player and I am not sure the Denver Broncos can do enough around him in order to get the return on the investment that they had with this quarter of a billion that they paid him before the season.”

Wilson has not looked like himself this season. Hopefully, he works on his game and comes back stronger next year. The Broncos have great potential but have just failed to have connected the dots on the field this season.
